About OKECRAFT
OKECRAFT is a local brand from Oketo, a small town nestled between mountains at the east side of Daisetsuzan in Hokkaido.
Everything started from the encounter of Oketo and industrial designer Yoshio Akioka (1920-1997) in 1983 (Shōwa 58). Ever since OKECRAFT was born, Oketo endeavored to produce and popularize OKECRAFT through various methods such as developing artisan training program, selling OKECRAFT products, providing materials to artisans, etc. So far, there are 24 ateliers where local artisans work independently using woodturning lathes to produce food utensils that can be used on a daily basis.
